Takt Planning Workshop

When and Where?

Tuesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 18, 2020, each day from 7:30 AM to 5 PM (PDT) at UC Berkeley, CA

Based on inquiries and requests we received in 2019, P2SL and the vPlanner team are pleased to host this 2-Day Takt Planning Workshop on March 17 and 18 in the Garden Room at UC Berkeley (Clark Kerr Campus, south of the main campus)

Takt Planning (TP) is a work structuring method that enhances the Last Planner® System implementation through the creation of clear supply-chain alignment and production execution strategies during Phase Planning. TP improves resource and material flow and reliability by setting cycle time targets for the various processes within the production system so that the resulting plan can meet its overall objectives. TP reduces variability by setting a predictable production rate for standard activities across right-sized geographic work areas (smaller and repeatable batches).  This disciplined planning approach aligns not only the workflow at the site, but also the overall flow of materials and information throughout the supply chain, starting in design and moving into detailing, fabrication, and delivery processes required to support the execution of the Takt sequences resulting in improved work execution. In turn, TP streamlines the process of commissioning and hand-over.

During Day 1 of the workshop, you will participate in a hands-on simulation game designed specifically to teach the concepts of TP and demonstrate how those concepts can be used to optimize flow.  During Day 2, we will apply those concepts to an actual project example, through group activities and discussion. You will develop a takt plan for both repetitive- as well as non-repetitive work using the Work Density Method. Detailed agenda items are posted below.

If you are implementing the Last Planner® System (LPS) on your projects, this is an opportunity to sharpen your skills and understanding of work structuring, advanced production planning, and workflow management techniques and how to develop comprehensive execution strategies to improve the implementation of LPS.

Continuing Education Credits

AGC CM Lean

Participants in the workshop qualify for 15.0 CM-Lean CE credits from the AGC of America toward the renewal of AGC’s Certificate of Management-Lean Construction (CM-Lean).

Fees

Registration fees $550 for one day or $925 for both days.
